|BUDGET (continued from Home Page|
NAC Board Chair Tim Jones commented, "That our legislators allowed Nevada's arts industry to shoulder such a disproportionate budget cut is greatly disappointing to the NAC Board. It is indefensible that in 2009, our elected officials chose not to speak to the return on public investment in the arts and culture - a sector that provides critical educational, economic and social capital to Nevada's communities on a daily basis. We believe in, and will continue to advocate for, the restoration of these cuts to the Arts Council on behalf of those who work in and benefit from Nevada's arts industry".
The Arts Council's base budget for the next two years, as approved by the FY09 Nevada State Legislature is: FY10 - $1,934,197 ($1,102,406 state funds; $747,300 federal dollars; $85,491 anticipated license plate/publication sales and other outside revenue) FY11 - $1,943,403 ($1,110,612 state funds; $747,300 federal dollars; $85,491 anticipated license plate/publication sales and other outside revenue).
