The Community Arts Development Program (CAD) supports local arts agencies, presenting and community based organizations with assistance and training for all phases of organizational development - from the inception of a community program to developing organizational skills through long-range planning, board development and cultural assessment.

What is it that makes a community livable and vibrant? An understanding that place matters! Five years ago, the Arts @ the Heart Convening was created to support Nevada's cultural leadership to champion a vision that invests in people and the places they live. At the 2013 Arts @ the Heart Convening (A@H), we'll consider the attributes of vibrant communities, the role of artists as civic animators, and local renewal and growth through community engagement. FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
LOCALS STABILIZATION ASSISTANCE GRANTS
Grants currently not available due to NAC budget cuts. Annual grant category provides funding to local arts agencies or community arts councils.
NEVADA CIRCUIT RIDER GRANTS (NCR)
NCR grants provide affordable technical assistance to nonprofit arts and cultural organizations. Grant recipients use consultants on the Nevada Circuit Riders Roster to address specific issues and/or challenges such as board development, cultural diversity, financial management, fundraising, marketing and promotions, strategic planning or technology utilization, volunteerism, youth engagement and participation, etc. Read more
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANTS
Professional Development Grant (PDG). PDGs are noncompetitive grants available throughout the year to eligible applicants on a first-come, first-served basis while funding is available. PDG grants support constituent attendance at professional development activities and provide up to $650 for out-of-state activities, up to $500 for in-state activities not sponsored by NAC, and up to $350 for NAC-sponsored activities. OASIS statewide arts and cultural industry conferences, have been taking place in Nevada since they were reinstituted in 2002 after a hiatus of several years.

Community Arts Development periodically sends out opportunity and event listings via Email Blasts to Nevada art and non-profit organizations and the Nevada Presenters Network. If interested in getting these announcements, email Robin Hodgkin. Let her know that you want to receive these announcements - indicate your organizations name and contact information.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
Much of CAD staff time is committed to assisting communities and community arts organizations. Staff may recommend or assist with the implementation of a community cultural assessment to identify local resources and develop a strategic plan, provide links to new resources or arrange for peer to peer networking opportunities to assist with the challenges of working toward long term sustainability.
