The Artist Services Program encourages the work of Nevada's literary, performing and visual artists. With a focus on the needs and concerns of the individual artist, the program components serve artists through grant funding, programs supporting the work of artists, professional development opportunities and technical assistance.


WHAT'S NEW?


OXS - NEW Office eXhibition Series – Sculptures by Las Vegas artist Chris Bauder are featured at the OXS Gallery through May 24, 2013. Latex paint and pillow stuffing are just some of the materials Bauder uses to dip, drip, pour, peel, stretch, stuff and mold to create the colorful plastic environments seen his exhibit “Soft Switches.” A recipient of a 2013 Artist Fellowship Grant, Bauder recently curated “Skull Show” at the College of Southern Nevada. LXS – Legislative eXhibition Series
- spotlights the Silver State's breadth of contemporary and folk artists. The LXS gallery is on the first floor of the Nevada Legislative Building and features the following six exhibits during the 2013 Legislative session:

FUNDING OPPORTUNTIES

ARTIST FELLOWSHIP GRANTS
Annual grants of $5,000 for artists living in Nevada – grants awarded in literary, performing and visual arts. Read more.

ARTIST RESIDENCY EXPRESS GRANTS
The Artist Residency Express (AREx) Grant is designed for community and educational sponsors to host a short-term artist residency (one to three days) using an artist on one of the NAC artist rosters (Arts Learning, Folk Arts and Tumblewords.) Non-roster artists may be used, but require additional support materials/work sample. The residency design allows the artist to explore his/her discipline with students, teachers and community members through classes, demonstrations, lectures and discussions, rehearsals, performances, or community events. AREx grants are offered on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the year while funds are available. Read more.

GOVERNOR'S ARTS AWARDS (GAA) VISUAL ARTS COMMISSION
Annual grant of $3.500 for a Nevada visual artist to create seven works of art that will be presented to the award recipients during the agency's annual GAA ceremony. Read more.

PROGRAMS & SERVICES

LEGISLATIVE EXHIBITION SERIES -  (LXS)
LXS spotlights Nevada painters, photographers, sculptors and craft artists during the biennial legislative sessions. A citizen’s committee selects the artists whose work is displayed in the gallery space on the first floor of the Legislative Building. Read more.

NEVADA TOURING INITIATIVE (NTI) TRAVELING EXHIBITION PROGRAM
Delivers high quality visual arts exhibits to communities throughout the state. To help accomplish this goal, every Traveling Exhibition includes installation, insurance, publicity and educational materials. Read more.

OFFICE EXHIIBITION SERIES - (OXS)
OXS features exhibits by recipients of the agency's Artist Fellowship, Governor’s Arts Award Commission. OXS exhibitions are displayed throughout the year in the Carson City office. Read about the featured artist and check the schedule.  Read more.

EMAIL BLASTS
The Artist Services Coordinator periodically sends out opportunity and event listings via Email Blasts to Nevada literary, performing and visual artists. If interested in getting these announcements, email Fran Morrow. Let her know that you want to receive these announcements - indicate your artistic discipline.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
The Artist Services Program provides guidance, referrals and research to artists and organizations that work with individual artists on a variety of topics such as marketing, and presenting and exhibiting various art forms in public settings.
