|Artist Services Program|
The Artist Services Program encourages the work of Nevada's literary, performing and visual artists. With a focus on the needs and concerns of the individual artist, the program components serve artists through grant funding, programs supporting the work of artists, professional development opportunities and technical assistance.
|MODIFICATIONS TO THE ARTIST FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM|
Starting in 2015, the Artist Fellowship Program will change from an annual cycle to a two-year cycle. The rotating cycle will include: in odd calendar years, Artist Fellowship Grants for Visual Artists, and in even calendar years, Artist Fellowship Grants for Literary and Performing Artists. Each year there will be an annual Fellowship Project Grant for artists who have received the maximum number of fellowships allowed (two and more.)
WHY? A two-year cycle program: 1) reflects the average number of applications received each year in the three categories (Literary, Performing & Visual), 2) allows NAC staff to provide greater assistance to fellowship applicants, 3) increases the number of Artist Fellowships awarded in each category from three to four, 4) redistributes administrative costs and time to allow for public presentations/lectures by fellowship panelists, 5) eliminates the two year waiting period for fellowship recipients, and 6) establishes a new Fellowship Project Grant.
ON DISPLAY IN OXS GALLERY
THEN AND NOW: Works by Elaine Jason & Maria Arango-Diener showcases two Governor’s Arts Awards Commission artists who exemplify the diversity of contemporary visual arts in Nevada. The abstract forms that connect Elaine Jason’s neon sculptures relate to the aesthetics of sculptural constructivism, and Maria Arango-Diener creates woodcut prints that illustrate how a variety of materials imprint her work. The exhibit runs November 10, 2014 — January 23, 2015. The OXS Gallery is located at 716 N. Carson St., Carson City and is open Mon.–Fri., 8am – 5pm. Read more
