ARTIST FELLOWSHIPSAnnual grants available through the Artist Services Program, the Artist Fellowship Grant seeks to recognize and reward outstanding individual artists living in Nevada who demonstrate excellence in their work. Grant awards go to individual artists in each category – literary, performing and visual arts. BETTER EDUCATION THROUGH THE ARTS GRANTSQuarterly grants available through the Arts Education Program, the Better Education through the Arts Grants (BETA) provide funding up to $750 for teaching artists whose work involves the planning, implementation, and/or evaluation of arts education programs. Grant funds encourage individuals as well as nonprofit organizations and government entities to broaden their skills through participation in career enhancement activities. Eligible Applicants: Current recipients of ALFA or AIR grants are eligible for an organization BETA Grant. An applicant may receive either one BETA grant or one Jackpot Grant per fiscal year. (See Grants Program for information on Jackpot Grants.) All applicants are required to be a teaching artist, have U.S. citizenship or legal resident status, be a resident of Nevada for 12 months prior to application date and be at lleast 21 years old and not be seeking a degree-seeking student. FOLKLIFE APPRENTICESHIP
Available through the Folklife Program, the Folklife Apprenticeship encourages the continuation of Nevada’s diverse traditional culture by providing grants to skilled master artists to teach committed apprentices through intensive instruction about their art form. A master artist works with one or two apprentices during a two year period. Grants awards of up to $3,500, which includes a $2,500 stipend to the master artist for teaching time and up to $1,000 to cover supplies, travel, and other expenses. Up to ten projects are funded every two years. GOVERNOR'S ARTS AWARDS VISUAL ARTS COMMISSIONAnnual grant available through the Artist Services Program, the Governor's Arts Awards Visual Arts Commission artist receives $3,500 grant to create the seven works of art. Six pieces are presented to the recipients during the GAA ceremony and one piece is placed in the NAC permanent collection. HERITAGE AWARDSAvailable through the Folklife Program, the Nevada Heritage Awards to honor Nevada folk artists who are the finest and most influential masters of their particular art forms and traditions. Each year, the Nevada Arts Council will award up to two $3,500 Nevada Heritage Awards to individuals whose work in the folk arts has had a significant impact on the people and communities of the state. JACKPOT GRANTSQuarterly grants available through the Grants Program, Jackpot Grants support new or exemplary art projects by nonprofit arts and non-arts organizations, public institutions and artists. Artists must have attained a certain level of proficiency as represented in the quality of work samples submitted with the applications. Examples of eligible Jackpot projects for individuals include: costs associated with preparing of portfolios and work samples; and presentation of work (performances, exhibitions, publications, etc). Eligible Applicants: All applicants are required to be a Nevada resident for 12 months prior to application deadline, be at least 21 years old and not seeking an academic degree in a field of study that is related tot he project for which she/he is applying. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANTSProfessional Development Grant (PDG). PDGs are noncompetitive grants available throughout the year to eligible applicants on a first-come, first-served basis while funding is available. PDG grants support constituent attendance at professional development activities and are up to $650 for out-of-state activities, up to $500 for in-state activities not sponsored by NAC, and up to $350 for NAC-sponsored activities.
